Task

With its uncompromising approach to quality, precision, and documentation, the aerospace sector is among the most demanding and complex of user industries. The client invested in a robotic 5-axis milling system from DMG MORI DECKEL MAHO in order to automatically manufacture shroud and root geometries of different guide vane variants for an engine’s compressor.

Impementation

DMG MORI HEITEC developed and manufactured the WH 8 CELL robotic workpiece loading system for the DMU eVo. The automation unit was comprised of standard modules that were individually configured to meet the customer’s requirements and then pretested.

With the aid of the digital twin, commissioning of the plant was performed on the virtual model and the plant was customized according to the customer’s requirements. This made it possible to perform on-site commissioning in less than two days.

DMG MORI took over this task as the turnkey supplier in charge.
